-WHY?

I’m about to share with you a very, very vital (yet overlooked) technique that never fails. That’s right. NEVER fails. I always stress this technique when I’m coaching new Home Business Owners and Entrepreneurs. Works like a charm.

As a matter of fact, I’m even giving you some homework this weekend because I think the dog days of summer may be getting the best of you and I want to keep you sharp

So let’s dive in…

In today’s society we often put a lot of emphasis on HOW things are done. Present a plan with lofty goals to the board of directors of any company and surely they will ask you how you suppose those goals will be met. Apply for a mortgage and you will be asked to demonstrate how you plan to pay it off. Give a professor the correct answer to a complex question and chances are you’ll be asked how you arrived at your conclusion.

The HOW is often so predominant that the WHY is sometimes completely forgotten, as if the WHY is of less importance. Nothing could be further from the truth. WHY you want something is infinitely more important than HOW you think you’re going to achieve it.

Phew. That was tiring just to write. Did you get all that?

If you’re reading this newsletter today, chances are you’re a Home Business Owner and Entrepreneur and there is a reason WHY? But do you know the reason WHY??

I hope you do…

But if you don’t (and most don’t), then it’s time you found out. If you’re not achieving the results you would like to be achieving in your Home Business enterprise, chances are very good that this is why (no pun intended).

Stay with me now. It’s gut check time…

To find out what you’re WHY is may just be as simple as identifying what it is that you want, right? Everyone knows what they want, right?

Wrong…

It’s a bit more challenging than one would think. Ask an adult to write down everything they want on a list with a minimum of 10 items and you will find that for most it turns out to be quite difficult.

Stating that you want a certain amount of money, want to quit working or just want a bigger car than your neighbor can cause people to experience discomfort. After all, it may make them appear greedy or lazy and that’s not generally considered positive. So they try to come up with something that’s socially acceptable and in doing so, make what they want subject to the opinions of others. Not good.

Here’s the interesting part…

Kids on the other hand have no problem here. They’ll come up with 10 items and more in no time, listing things you didn’t even know exist. They don’t worry about what others may think of it, whether it makes them look greedy, lazy or whatever. All they know is that they want it. Fascinating when you think about.

You see, kids have not yet been brainwashed or conditioned into thinking that they can’t have certain things. They just assume they can have anything they want, right?

And so can you. You just may not realize it yet.

Here’s a very effective exercise for you that will really bring to light exactly what it is that you want in life so you can pin point your WHY.

Chances are you’ve never done this…

Figure out what it is that you DON’T want first and what you do want will become crystal clear. This is a technique called “clarity through contrast” and it basically states that when you observe what it is that you don’t want in life it then it delivers clarity which makes it clear what you do want.

Easy enough right? Here comes the hard part…

Write it down now. Make a list of the things you DON’T want in life. It will only take you a few minutes and it’s actually a pretty fun exercise because when you actually come to terms with what you DON’T want it becomes clear what you DO want. The peace of mind you will experience by being clear is just, well…you’ll see.

After you’ve identified what it is you want, then you get to your all important WHY.

So why would you want all those things? Again, kids have the upper hand here. They’ll be quick to point out why they want it all: mostly the fun they will have and the popularity it will give them. Ask an adult why they want something and you’ll enjoy watching the expression on their face. You’ll see them searching for an answer.

Why would you want to be rich? Why would you want to quit working to have your own business? What would you do if you no longer had to go to a job every day? You may decide you want a bigger house than anyone in your family before you ever had.

But what does that do for you? Would you sleep better? Would it make your life better? Would it make you happier? Whatever it is, it’s critical that you know.

Exactly HOW you plan to achieve your success is far less important, especially early on. Too much focus on the HOW early in the process can have a devastating effect. It could paralyze you. I call it “analysis paralysis.”

If your financial situation is so bad that you’re actually below broke then achieving financial independence can seem so far fetched that reaching it appears impossible. You might sell yourself on the idea that it’s so far out of reach that you couldn’t possibly make it happen in this lifetime. As much as that may seem true at the time, it doesn’t have to become your reality. Don’t be sold.

However, in order to get there you will probably have to overcome some serious hurdles. And for that to happen, you need a reason to get up and take the necessary action. That reason needs to be strong enough to pull you through the tough times that inevitably will come. That reason is your WHY.

History is packed with unbelievable stories of accomplishment. People facing seemingly insurmountable odds who overcame obstacles you wouldn’t believe. Individuals with relentless determination who decided to push on in situations where most people would give up.

Why is that so many people throw in the towel when things don’t go their way and only a small number of people seem to persevere?

It’s not because they are genetically stronger and it’s not because they have been dealt a better hand in life. What sets them apart is their WHY. That’s what keeps them in the game. Their WHY is so strong that whatever gets in their way, they will find a way to deal with it. They don’t have all the answers, but what they do have is an inner conviction that they can and will find the answers.

…And they are crystal clear about what they want.

Nailing down your WHY is one of the most powerful ways to improve your chances of success with your home business. So make sure that you know what your WHY is. Find it and refine it over and over again. Make it so strong that achieving it becomes an absolute must for you and the HOW will absolutely reveal itself to you over time. Trust me.

Take action.

P.S. Don’t forget your homework assignment. Make a list of the things you DON’T want and you will instantly see what you DO want. Your WHY will appear right before your eyes. Don’t take this assignment lightly. I’ve done this many times and it is quite dramatic what your new found clarity will bring you..

The barriers to entrepreneurship are crumbling, and every six months, technology makes starting a business easier and easier.

As a result, entrepreneurship has become more appealing to a wider range of people. If you measure success in terms of personal growth and flexible work, their success rate is sky high.

Here’s a list of the old and new ways of thinking when it comes to starting your own business:

Old: Entrepreneurs are born with a specific set of character traits.

New: Entrepreneurship is learned.

There is no single way to be an entrepreneur, according to research by Saras Sarasvathyof the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. There are actually many different types of personalities that can succeed because there are so many different ways to structure a business.

The key is to pick a business that plays to your personality traits. For example, someone who has lots of charisma and leadership skill, but little interest in day-to-day details, should probably run a larger company than someone who’s capable of doing all the dirty work required for a one-man show.

Old: Raise money and spend a lot of it on advertising.

New: Raise no money and spend no money on advertising.

The viral efficiencies of Web 2.0 make today’s Internet very effective for spreading good ideas quickly. You can think of an idea and test it right away, and if you get traffic to your site the idea is good. If there’s no traffic, that’s not a sign to spend money on advertising, it’s a sign that you don’t have a good idea.

Reddit, for example, was started by two twenty-somethings who emailed their friends and invited them to use their new online tool. Their friends liked Reddit and passed the email on to their own email lists. No advertising budget whatsoever was required, and two years later Conde Nast acquired Reddit.

Old: Women will get power in corporate America and change it.

New: Women are getting what they want by leaving corporate America to start their own businesses.

While a steady stream of press releases touts the increasing flexibility of corporate jobs, it isn’t happening in practice. But instead of pounding their fists against the doors of corporate human resources departments, women have put their energy toward growing their own businesses.

More businesses are started today by women than by men, and most of the sole proprietorship businesses are run by women. This tells us that women have won the fight for flexible jobs by creating them for themselves.

Old: The self-employed are happy because they’re doing what they love.

New: The self-employed are happy because they have control over their work and they have a flexible lifestyle.

The idea that you need to do what you love is more of a platitude than solid career advice. Instead, the best advice might be to do what fits your life best, and create a life that you love.

Rebecca Ryan, CEO of Next Generation Consulting, writes about how instead of living to work, people today are working to live. In this context, self-employment is a very effective way to create a life you want.

Old: Climb the corporate ladder, learn the ropes, then start a company.

New: Start a company to get out of climbing the corporate ladder.

Learning the ropes at a big company is sometimes slow going. You often only learn what your own department does, and if you have a really bad job, you only learn what your department does from the perspective of the copy machine. This is no way to learn about business.

The fastest way to learn about business is to try it. And since there’s very little cost to starting an Internet business, you can try one, fail, and start another, and another, as a way to teach yourself about business.

Eventually something will stick, and even if it doesn’t, you’ll probably get enough experience to skip the drudgery of the bottom rungs of the corporate ladder.

Old: Entrepreneurship is all or nothing.

New: You can test the waters by starting a company while you have a corporate job.

Setting up shop online is a matter of using your mouse and clicking on the kind of features you want in your store. And there are new ways to do business online that didn’t exist even two years ago. For example, you can buy and sell web sites on 24-hour message boards, and you can set up an arbitrage business around buying and selling web traffic.

Many new types of businesses are ideal for pairing with a career you already have. Marci Alboher wrote a handbook for starting this kind of life: “One Person/Multiple Careers: A New Model for Work/Life Success.”

Old: Starting a business is risky.

New: Staying in corporate life is risky.

Most businesses succeed, most jobs end. The statistics about most companies failing assume that most entrepreneurs want to run the next Microsoft. In fact, most people don’t. They just want a flexible, fun, rewarding job.

In that respect, if a company provides fun, flexible work for even a short period of time, you can say it’s a success even if it fails soon after.

Old: Do a lot of planning and make sure it’s going to work before you start.

New: Forget the big plan — just try it.

If it doesn’t work, just try again. This is not true for, say, starting a restaurant, but for a company with little cash outlay there’s little risk to running without a set plan.

It’s very easy.  Anyone can do it in just three simple steps.

Step 1: Select master resale rights products or private label products that relate to your website’s niche and that can be packaged with other products and given away for free.

Products are available on the Internet on almost any topic. Many are marketed with master resale rights, resale rights, or private label rights included either as a bonus or for a higher price. Choose resale rights products related to your website niche. And since rights can vary, be very sure that the products you choose can be included in packages and given away for free.

If you don’t have a genuine interest in a business opportunity, you shouldn’t be getting involved.  Even if you are interested you might want to ask yourself, do you have any experience in the field? #2 -Your up-line already knows this and continues to teach this broken system that doesn’t work because you and your money are replaceable.  All they have to do to fill another room full of dream chasing money seekers is to pump up “THE HYPE”.  The hype can be more powerful than you think. When people are being enticed with dreams of riches, fast cars, exotic vacations, early retirement and more, they are extremely vulnerable to joining an organization that they otherwise would never have joined. Excitement is the key weapon of the hype pushers.

What happens is this, you will be asked to picture your life in the future with all the objects of your desires, and imagine the feeling of how happy you would be.  This is where you get baited. They ask you if that feeling of happiness and wealth is something that is worth working for.  The obvious answer is “YES”, then they ask you what’s stopping you? What else are you gonna do with yourself in order to achieve these goals? They know that you are fresh to the industry and haven’t had time to search for the best possible opportunity, therefore, exploiting your weaknesses catching you with you’re guard down.

So, don’t let this happen to you.  Millions of other people have had this happen to them,  so that you don’t have to.  Learn from other people’s mistakes instead of your own.  It’s not as expensive!

It feels great to watch your own plan come together, especially when you make money and receive positive gratification from your friends and co-workers…

I grew up playing hockey, riding bikes, skiing, snowboarding and rollerblading.  I enjoy watching basketball, football, hockey, and soccer.  My newest sport is surfing, and my favorite.  As an event coordinator, I witnessed the magic of marketing and promotions.  Every now and then, I would go home with $100-$500 dollars.  For the first time, I experienced paying myself for the accumulative work and knowledge that I had applied to a project.

It’s a great feeling…I wasn’t trading my time for an hourly wage anymore!! The feeling of self gratification and freedom felt so good, that since that day it has been my mission to become my own boss and make money in ways that I enjoyed, on my own schedule…

At this time, I was job-to-job, working in a different restaurant or hotel every year.  It wasn’t the actual job itself that was unbearable, it was everything else; commuting in traffic, waking up to an alarm, being at work when I didn’t want to be, having to put up with difficult customers, difficult co-workers, management, and being on somebody else’s schedule that doesn’t care about me.  One of the worst things I had to deal with was early morning work shifts that start at 6am.

I have always had trouble sleeping, especially when I have to get up for something important, and I would only get an hour or two of sleep before I went into work.  Even if it was dead slow, I would still screw up because I couldn’t think straight.  I asked to not work in the early AM but there was no accommodating my request, so instead, they had a zombie showing up for work that looked like crap and messed up everyone’s order.  On the way home from work one day, I fell asleep at the wheel and drove up the meridian and almost killed myself.  Luckily, there where not any pedestrians in the way.  I dreaded these early morning shifts.

I always had confidence in myself, a trait I learned from my Dad…

When a friend of mine called me up a couple years ago and asked me if wanted to make money, I was all for it.  I asked what it was about, and all he could tell me was that he was excited and I had to see it with my own eyes before he could tell me any more.  I thought to myself, what’s the big secret? So I went to see what he had to show me, in person.  This was the beginning of my marketing career…so I thought.  The reason why he couldn’t tell me anything over the phone is because, “it would spoil it for me”.  I didn’t understand at the time why it had to be this way, but soon enough…

…I found out what the big secret was…hype.

You see, in direct selling or multi-level-marketing, the primary way that people are taught to grow their teams is by “chasing” people, rather than attracting people.  When you chase people to join your business, these people have no previous interest in joining your organization, however, these people still have money that can be wasted to make other people money.  This is what you call a “low quality lead”.

As making money these days becomes more and more deceitful, more and more innocent people get taken advantage of…

The way this works is quite simple, but completely unfair.  This is what happens…you get a call from somebody you know that invites you over for a presentation to discuss a money making opportunity.  I call these meetings “Tupperware Parties”.  At these Tupperware Parties there will be about 6-15 people that are all seemingly there for the same reason you are, to find out how to make extra cash.  There will be music playing, refreshments, smiles, and candies for you to be comfortable, and sometimes, they will even turn the thermostat way up for a psychological advantage.  You will notice that there is a lot of other people there just like you, but that’s not the case.

At least half of the people in the room are already in the business they’re trying to get you to join, but they’re posing as new prospects just to fill the room and add to the “hype” of the “opportunity”…

So what happens next is that during the presentation, they make it seem like this is you’re ticket to wealth and freedom!! And if you don’t sign up today and throw your money at it, you will never amount to anything more than where you are at right now.  They manipulate your emotions so that at the Tupperware Party, you feel like you can do anything and this is your lucky day.  They mislead you with dreams of traveling the world and driving fancy cars, and all you have to do is pay $500 or buy $1000 worth of juice, and you’ll be a millionaire!

However,

It’s all a big hoax in order to get you to throw your money at their plan. They know very well that 95% of all new network marketers are doomed from the start!

They just want your money and as soon as they get it, you don’t here from them again

…why?

Because you are replaceable.

So as long as these Tupperware Parties are happening, there will always be new people to take advantage of.  Are you ready for the worst part of it all? The reason why everyone at these Tupperware Parties are doomed from the start is because they don’t share crucial information with you that will ensure you’re success…they are teaching the “Tupperware Party” system of the 80’s that doesn’t work.

What they are not sharing with you is 2 billion people that are on the Internet at all times, and how to get a piece of you’re Internet pie…Why?

So that you direct everybody to their website only…

Anyways, if you’re still reading this, there’s good news! You don’t have to fall for this charade because, myself and thousands, if not millions of other people already have, and you can learn from our mistakes instead of making costly mistakes on your own.  So that is how I was introduced to this industry, and let me tell you, I believed the hype.  And it cost me.  Luckily I decided to stop listening to the bullshit advice I was getting from my up-line.  This included; bothering my friends and family, being fake excited, forcing people to come to Tupperware Parties against their will, talking to anybody within 3 feet of me about my business, duplication and of course, “Don’t try to reinvent the wheel”,and the list goes on and on…

I was actually expected to have a Tupperware Party everyday of the week! What a crock of Bull!  And all this time not one mention of marketing on the Internet, when they have their own Internet campaign fully operational…

As you can see, I clearly have been through the wash, more than once, which means you don’t have to.  Within my first 6 months as a new network marketer, I had spent all the money I had, throwing it blindly at these expensive “hobbies” without making a penny.  That is why I decided to think on my own, “outside of the box”.  My marketing career was finished, I had no money left, I was frustrated and was just about to give up when the light went off in my brain, and I started to research network marketing online, and see what the professionals were saying.

What I learned was the solution to my problems!!!

I found out that these people that teach the broken way of throwing Tupperware Parties, are fakes, phonies, and are the main reason why so many people fail in this industry.  I found out that no matter how good my product or service was, if I didn’t have high quality leads and mass exposure to my business…I wasn’t going far.  It was all about knowledge and wisdom of the industry, the product or service, and most importantly the system.  I had 2 primary businesses that have great new products and services, but I needed a way to get them off the ground and make some money.  Not only that, I needed to start making money as soon as possible, otherwise I would have to go back to my dreaded mediocre life.  I had a mortgage to pay, car payments, and an expensive lifestyle.  The only thing I did have, was time.  Time is money if you are making money with your time.  All of that changed when I found the solution to my problems… a system that generates high quality leads and makes money in the mean time!!  Enabling you to start and fund your own online business without going broke!

I knew there was an easy solution to making money in this industry.  I just had to find it.  It took me a couple years of searching, but it was well worth it…

During my search, I learned a lot of crucial information about how the professionals were making millions.  I studied the true guru’s of the online marketing industry such as Jay Kubasek, Mike Dillard, and Ann Seig.  Ever since I’ve been following the advice from these guys and plugging into their systems, I haven’t looked back.  I now have more freedom and time to spend with my family and friends, take trips around the world, stay healthy and fit, cook awesome food (I love to cook), celebrate life, watch the game, and my favorite…I have time to do nothing at all!

I am such a happier person now, after all isn’t the purpose of life to be happy?
